I don’t do much blogging these days since there’s not much to talk about, musically. Somehow our band had very few lives this high season, for some very suspicious reasons. But w/o any significant evidence to confirm my suspicions, I’d rather stay silent.
Elsewhere, in a very weird twist of fate, I’m suddenly an assistant to a seasoned and locally respected (short furniture maker. Barely manage to do my daily job along. But I do. And, in fact, I’m making a sample library in a manner of those fabulous old sample CDs from the likes of Spectrasonics’ (may they live forever) ‘Distorted Reality’.
Thing is that working in a workshop I’ve got some serious access to rather impressive sound sources – drills, air compressors, disk grinders, and, of course, large and weathered metal doors. Besides occasionally visited some manufacturing sites where things are produced at the industrial levels using the appropriately sized machinery. Caught some field records there too.
Right now I basically lack the professional field recording equipment, so a rather weathered Redmi smartphone still does the job more or less, while the rest is up to processing in a DAW.
Surge XT, too, is a source of particularly industrial inclined samples, and yessa, it is THE sound designer’s dream if used properly.
Trying to do my best – before AI goo consumes everything.
There are also two large and ambitious music endeavours in the works, but I have no clear idea when and whether at all they come to the fruition. Gonna takes quite some time for sure.
